Work project abundant love

We’ve have been assigned our work project. We will be working at a residence for mountain children who have no school in their village. They live here the whole school year and go to a public school across the street. Our job is twofold: to make sure they are safe is a priority and secondly to teach them to speak English. In turn they will teach us to speak Thai.

There are 165 children living here. They are ages 6 to 17. The smaller ones go to a primary and the big ones to a secondary school a little further away. This year 7 of the graduates had been here from grade one right through to the end of high school.  If I understood correctly, 2 of them are going to Bible School next year. This is the goal. We give them an opportunity to hear about God all through their school years in the hopes that they will get to know Jesus and accept him as their saviour.

We will start a 30 hour intensive Thai language course with a private tutor next week. After that we are on our own. We are now living in the dorm/guest house until we find a place to rent. We also need to buy a car because the Children’s Home is in the country and too far from town to walk. We also need to be able to take the kids to the hospital in case of an emergency.

 

·         Please pray that we learn Thai quickly.

·         Pray that we will be good and godly role models for the children.

·         Pray that we find adequate housing close to the children’s residence.

·         Pray that we sell our car in Canada so we can use the money to buy one here.

·         Pray that we will stay close to God and be a blessing to the local pastors we came to help.
